Woodworking Anyone?

It’s that time again as we are ending a season, we are about to start another and that means registration day is upon us. Here are some links and important dates.

The Fall season has something for everyone in Lower Lonsdale’s Community Woodworking Studio and the Roundhouse in Yaletown.

To register for courses in Lower Lonsdale, (our flagship studio – yeah it really is beautiful) the registration date is August 25, 2021 at 9am. Here is the link that will direct you to both Course Programming and the Drop-in schedule (which the NVRC calls “Book a Visit” LOL) https://www.nvrc.ca/woodworking

Please note that Roundhouse courses registration is already open (without us being aware!!). We will be offering two types of courses and to find them easily, simply search their names as follows:

Woodworking Level 1 Unplugged – Monday and Wednesday evenings

Woodworking Basics with Wood Turning – Friday and Saturday mornings

Urban Toolworks

Some of you may not be aware of it but we have an online tool company that stocks hand tool basics like really neat squares, japanese saws, marking knives, water stones, chisels and more. Our prices are competitive (lower than most if not all). Most recently after being asked by many people if we would consider making custom work benches we decided to look a little closer at the idea and came up with a bench that is easily dismantled and can be stowed in the average closet. This bench is ideal for people who live in apartments due to its size but its equally at home in a professional shop due to its very robust construction. The pic at the top of the post is of one of our prototypes. We now make them in beech or Maple (depending on our stock of lumber). These will be one size only and more details can be seen on www.urbantoolworks.com .

Joinery Clinics

We are mulling the idea of short joinery clinics – possibly whole day or maybe two or three regular three hour sessions. The focus would be hand tools but not exclusively, making provision for being time efficient. If this is something of interest please let us know by email and include your preference for types of joints and course duration.

See you in the studio!
