It’s been an interesting year – COVID-19 and its effect on our lives and business. We have been fortunate to have kept busy despite the constraints COVID has placed on operations in the studio. We appreciate the way that those of you who have attended courses in the months after lock-down have navigated our COVID protocols. Oddly enough I am getting used to my masks even to the point of feeling like something is missing when I am not wearing it. Enough of COVID!!!
Registrations for Winter 2021 have gone very well and I know that many of you are again on waitlists and I apologize if its not the first time. There are however a few courses with space remaining as follows below:
Japanese Inspired Woodworking Hand Tools Level 2/3 – This course has a few spots left and is ideal for anyone who has developed some confidence and completion of at least our Level 1 in either Hand Tools or Power Tools. It runs Tuesday evenings 6:30 to 9:30pm. Its a challenging course and as such is not for those without some experience. If you have completed Level 2 this would be an ideal challenge. The project is to construct a Shoji Lamp like the example below.
Japanese Inspired Woodworking Hand Tools Level 1/2 – This course has one spot remaining and can be taken by anyone but its suggested that you have done at least one of our courses as the joinery is complicated for beginners. The course runs on Saturday mornings 9:30 to 12:30. Below is an example of a Japanese style Mortise and tenon box – Not yet complete. For those that manage to complete the box with a session to spare can make a dozen beautiful hardwood chopsticks to go with the box.
Woodworking Basics Level 1 – There are two of these courses with space. Both start in the second half of the season Monday mornings and Friday Mornings 9:30 to 12:30. This is the most popular course for beginners. Despite being a beginner course its demanding and fast paced. Most people find they got way more than they expected.
A note for our Drop-in users – Please remove materials that are not being worked on routinely. We don’t have space to store materials especially now that we have three Level 2 course in the season and a lot more Level 1’s. Also any materials left temporarily must be marked with name and cell number.
