June 15, 2020 at 9am is registration day for the Summer program.
I am impressed with how well everyone has been dealing with the COVID changes in the studio. While they are not tough to handle, they are a bit of an annoyance. The sessions this week have carried on without glitch and no one has voiced or shown any displeasure in the new studio COVID procedures, and I thank you very much for that. Ultimately we are doing our best to keep the studio a COVID free zone.
Due to the continued closure of the Roundhouse we will be offering Hand Tool Level 1 Woodworking courses, normally offered at Roundhouse, on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Instructors Mark Benstead and Tristan Noone will perform their usual magic in these courses. You are in for a treat.
We have also shoehorned in a single Woodworking Joinery Intensive Level 1/2 course. This course is a week long full time course that will take place mid August and Instructed by Jeremy Tomlinson. An ideal course for those who already have some experience but want to get into Fine Woodworking.
Charlie Chao will be offering his Japanese Shoji lamp on Saturdays – this time a larger floor standing version. This is a Hand Tool course that is current and sophisticated, infused with traditional Japanese influence.
Also taught by Charlie is a new course – Chopsticks in a box. This is a fun Hand Tools course that is fun and easy. Make a simple small box and a dozen (or more) chopsticks. Decorate them if you wish with a burning iron or carving.
The Level 1 Basics courses, while a whole bunch more than basic are some of the most popular courses we offer. This course is instructed by Jeremy Tomlinson, Darrell Mussatto and Ryan Inman. There are a number of these being offered. These run on various days and evenings, so there is a course to fit your schedule.
To register online go to https://www.nvrc.ca/woodworking or call the main number. The registration site has been streamlined lately but some bugs may still be requiring fixing. If you have trouble finding your course please be patient or call NVRC or me.
Upon registering you will receive a copy of the new COVID rules. Please read them carefully. We look forward to seeing you in the studio – stay safe.
