Ok where has the year gone, it’s Fall already!!! Fall and Winter are the busiest seasons and so courses fill quite fast especially evenings and weekends.
FIRST some changes and items of importance to take note of:
- Joinery Foundations Level 2 at LOLO is changing to a fixed curriculum course with a focus on skills development. There will be two course per week, one on Monday evening and one on Thursday morning. As in the past there will be a hybrid focus incorporating some use of hand tools as well as typical machines. Students will provide their own lumber after the first session and as such decide on species and colour etc. Projects may vary from season to season and are decided by the instructor. Feel free to take Level 2 as many times as you wish.
- Joinery Level 3 is a new course for LOLO that is most similar to the old Level 2 with no fixed curriculum but with no introduction to sharpening, hand cut joinery or purchasing lumber etc. Student in this course therefore need to have completed Level 2. Joinery Level 3 intent is to explore more complex methods such as steam bent parts, bent laminations, veneering, in depth finishing methods etc. Projects and scope MUST be agreed to by the instructor and please note multiple large projects rapidly overwhelms the studio space. Please be prepared to store lumber at home if needed. Feel free to take Level 3 as many times as you wish.
- We are getting over-full with random lumber and partly finished projects that sit there week after week. In most cases there are no names and no cell numbers marking who this belongs to. Please note that ALL lumber and projects MUST be marked with name and cell number and if not being constantly worked on must be removed. Lumber that hangs around will be used or donated. If you mark your lumber properly we will try to notify you to remove it but ultimately it’s your lumber and your responsibility.
